Welcome back to Pitt!
Hey Everyone.
First of all I would like to say welcome back to everyone returning and welcome to all the freshman to this wonderful university.
I got a chance to meet many of the freshmen at the Panther Partners ceremony last night, so I wish you all good luck in the upcoming year. Great job to both upperclassman and freshmen who signed up for this very rewarding program, and also great job to those who organized it all (Jonathan, Trista, Nila, and everyone else).
Additionally I would like to give a thank you to the Oakland Community Council for holding the 3rd annual Furniture Sale. I always tout recycling, so this was a great way for the community to re-use furniture.
The Oakland Community Council is a great place for you to go and voice your concerns about Oakland itself. They are responsible for bringing in things like the Oakland Farmer's Market, the Furniture Sale, and general improvements to the quality of living in Oakland.

I strongly urge any student both on and off campus who wants to voice their concern to attend the Oakland Community Council Community Meetings, which are held the 2nd Monday of every month at 6PM at Peoples Oakland (corner of Bates Street & Zulema Street).
